Zambia 6th July

Where on the move from Zambia to Malawi today and everyone’s in high spirits.

We are a truck of ’16’ intrepid travelers from Australia, England and New Zealand, and its day 5 of our 21 day overland tour.  Everyone is starting to get into the rhythm of movement that overland travel brings.

We have 23 ‘rules’, and a daily Fine Master if these rules are not obeyed.  Amongst other things, being last to put down your tent leads to yet another fine and certain ridicule.  The boys of the bus (half the bus) have taken to having a moustache competition, which Dean I can see, is thrilled about.

Zambia has been full of extremely friendly people, with trading of basic items (ie hat/t-shirt/books) just as handy as kwacha when keeping the price down.

During our time in Livingstone we managed to see the Victoria Falls from both the land and sky thanks to an afternoon microlight flight.  The view spectacular from both angles, especially when your standing in the mouth of the falls…although probably not the best time to find our your waterproof £3 ebay anorak   isn’t waterproof.  Saying that though, seeing elephants from the sky, and trying not to squeeze Lesley’s (my microlight pilot) ribs with my knees just incase the ‘seatbelt’ didnt hold, was exhilerating…ahhh to be free as a bird…
